Office Policy

Our office is open Monday thru Saturday by appointment.  Our philosophy is to try and give the best care in a personalized way.  My home phone number has been published for over 37 years now, and we encourage patients to call us at home if they feel the need to.  If I am not home, you can reach me through the Boone Hospital switchboard.  I will meet patients after hours at the office if appropriate, and I have been known to make house calls as well, if the situation warrants it.  We provide urgent care services to our patients and would prefer that you not go to a free-standing urgent care without at least speaking to me or the pediatrician on call.*   We believe that a free-standing urgent care is not the best place for pediatric services.  We can save you time and money if you call us first.  Even if it is not my weekend on call you can call me at home, and if I am there I will try and advise you as what to do.  If you feel you must go to urgent care, we prefer that you go to Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

*I do take call with five other qualified physicians.  Two of them take care of both adults and children.  They are Christina Stixrud MD, and Melissa Myers MD.  The other three are full time pediatricians, Tina Brockman MD, John Wilson MD, COMO CUBS Pediatrics, and Douglas Beal MD.  Our call is roughly every 4th weekend.  In the event that I am out of town, my nurse practitioner, Melanie, will see you, and has one of the physicians noted above as her backup.

We are accepting new patients of all ages, including newborns.  We will follow your child as long as he or she feels comfortable seeing a pediatrician, even up through college graduation if they so desire.  We encourage yearly visits for all of our patients to track growth and development properly.

I provide prenatal visits, or meet and greet new children, at no charge during regular office hours.  We accept most insurance plans, Aetna Better Health of Missouri, Missouri Care, Home State Health Plan, and Medicaid plans.  We will file your insurance for you.  If finances are a concern, we will work with you to make suitable arrangements.

We would be pleased to welcome your children to our practice.  If you have any questions that you would like to discuss before making this important decision, please feel free to call me at home or at the office.
